Cristo Rey Brooklyn Residential Volunteer Program Overview

Mission Statement

Cristo Rey Brooklyn is a Catholic high school that educates young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose, and service.  By offering a rigorous curriculum, a unique work-study experience, and the support of an inclusive school community, we prepare our students to succeed in college and beyond with values essential to a fulfilling life.

Vision Statement

To be considered one of the best high schools in New York as measured by academic progress and achievement, graduation rates, college acceptance and accessibility and college and post-graduate success and to do so without being constrained by or resorting to labels, qualifiers or reduced expectations (e.g. low-income, inner-city, minority, faith-based).

Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School is a faith-based private school in East Flatbush for low-income students from throughout New York City that combines a rigorous academic curriculum with character education and real-world work experience to equip our students for success in college and careers.

Cristo Rey Brooklyn is a member of the national Cristo Rey Network, is endorsed by the Mid-Atlantic Community of the Sisters of Mercy and approved by the Diocese of Brooklyn. As such, we adhere to the standards established by the Cristo Rey Network and provide students with a full curriculum informed by our Catholic faith; however, our educational ministry extends to all young people and families of need and we enjoy a diverse student and staff community.

The Cristo Rey Brooklyn In-House Volunteer Program is a critical component of our overall mission. It is a full-time, two-year commitment to serve the students and community of Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School. Volunteer positions include but are not limited to academic support, coaching athletics, student life support, college counseling support, and furthering the objectives of the Corporate Work Study, Advancement, and Admissions Departments.  Cristo Rey Brooklyn seeks intelligent, hardworking, creative, and energetic individuals to further the mission of the school.
